In the spring of 2019, inhabitants from the village Bedsted in Thy, Denmark stated that they, from the KulTHYvator initiative, wished for a future-proof work of art that looks ahead and focuses on "the power that is when people themselves act and take responsibility for their development."
Now, a yellow, double-sided frame with thatched sliding doors on a concrete base has moved into the village. The old craft thatching is used here as a reminder of the importance of having history with us when innovating; of continuing to make use of the experiences made by others before us. Behind the sliding doors are two exhibition walls which the Bedsted citizens are encouraged to utilize as an exhibition platform. By inviting to dialogue and interaction, the work can serve as a catalyst for the conversation about our shared past, present and future, and in this way be kept updated and active on an ongoing basis. KulTHYvator is an urban renewal project, where empty grounds are provided with innovative art projects, where art, urban space, landscape and history are linked to new places - "recreational platforms" - for the pleasure and use of the villagers. |
